Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My question is that if one has sex with a partner who has never had sex before, not using a condom, can he or she still get HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), HPV (human papillomavirus), or any STDS (sexually transmitted diseases)?
Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
No, if you had sex with someone who has never had sex with anyone else before you, then you cannot get an STD (sexually transmitted disease). STDs are only transmitted from an infected sexual partner. So, if it is the first time sex for someone, then obviously that person has never been exposed to STDs.
Kind regards.
Patient's Query
Thank you, doctor, for the reply.
So I am not exposed to getting HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) or HPV (human papillomavirus)? Because I have been feeling weak.
Should I still get tested for any STDs?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
If you are sure that it was the first ever sexual contact of your partner with you and no one else before you, then there is nothing to fear from STDs. However, if you are not sure about the past sexual history of your partner, then you may get tested for STDs because unprotected sex is not safe.
Kind regards.
