Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My creatinine levels decreased from 4.8 to 4.4 in the last one month after starting medication for blood pressure and changes to the diet plan avoiding high potassium and sodium. I am just wondering if it indicates any improvement and chance of getting it further lower with medications. I am not using any other medication right now except the blood pressure pill.

Thanks in advance and your site is very helpful.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Continue taking medication for high blood pressure and avoid high potassium diet.

The reversal of kidney function is dependant on many factors like blood pressure level, blood sugar level, USG finding of kidney, GFR value, clinical symptoms, urine protein level, etc. In few patients with control of blood pressure and control of diabetes, reversal can occur

Nephropathy developed by high blood pressure might lead to high creatinine level. So, if with treatment, creatinine level does not fall down and clinical symptoms worsen, then dialysis might be needed.

It is good for you to consult a nephrologist for examination and further discussion accordingly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
