What are the ways to lower triglyceride levels?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How can I reduce my triglyceride levels, which are currently 262 mg/dL? I had a stent placed three years ago.

Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Since you have a stent, you must be taking medications like Atorvastatin or Rosuvastatin, which also help lower triglyceride levels. Despite these medications, if your triglycerides remain elevated, you will need to add another medication, such as Fenofibrate 145 mg, once a day at bedtime for six weeks, and then repeat the triglyceride test afterward. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with take the medicines with their consent.

Additionally, I suggest the following lifestyle changes: avoid fatty, oily, and high-calorie foods; engage in exercises like brisk walking or jogging according to your capacity for at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week; include plenty of green leafy vegetables, fruits, and fish once or twice a week; and avoid meat. Additionally, steer clear of smoking and alcohol consumption, if applicable.

I hope this helps you.

Please reach out if you have any questions.
