Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected oral sex 7 years back followed by protected vaginal sex with a girl. After that following week, I actually had too much alcohol and passed out in the night and later on, had a deep tissue Thai massage. The next week I felt very weak and a little feverish. Later I got tested for HIV screening test which was nonreactive. The doctor told me it is negative. Then I again got anxious after a week. I tested again from two different laboratories and both results were negative. So I want to ask that should I get tested again.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Let me try to allay your anxiety. If you had protected vaginal sex, your risk of contracting HIV or any other sexually transmitted infection was non-existent. Unprotected oral sex carries a negligible to low risk of contracting HIV especially if there were fresh open cuts, wounds, and lesions. Your one and two-month HIV test result is a big sigh of relief. The majority of the people who are infected with HIV develop HIV antibodies by 2 to 8 weeks. I could not see in the above history, your three months HIV test result. If it is not done, you can get it done and at last, you will require a test at six months. I am very sure that both results will be negative. Please do not keep any fear in your mind.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
