Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 28-year-old male with a weight of 170 pounds. Last month, I had unprotected oral and protected anal sex with a sex worker. I have a small wound on my finger. She removed my condom and cleaned my penis foreskin with her hands. So, there is a chance of her vaginal fluid contacting my wound and penis. For the past week, I have had symptoms like itching, weight loss of 4.4 pounds compared to last month, a cold, night sweats, a burning sensation in the anus, and an ulcer in the mouth and penis. There are no rashes, fever, or skin sores. Should I be concerned about HIV infection?
Kindly guide.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The chances of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) transmission in a single unprotected sex with an infected person are almost nil. Do not worry if there are no bleeding wounds in the oral cavity. But other STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) like the HSV (herpes simplex virus) infection spread through sex, kissing, or skin-to-skin contact. Consult your doctor for a physical examination. Your symptoms are nonspecific. Do Han IV antibody test. If negative, repeat the same after three months of exposure. Do the HSV type 1 and 2 IgM and IgG antibody tests.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor, for the reply.
What are my chances of developing an HIV infection? What are the treatment procedures? I have dryness in my lips.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The chances of HIV transmission are low. If symptomatic, I suggest tablet Paracetamol for fever or pain and tablet Cetirizine for a cold. It should subside within a few days. Consult your doctor for an examination.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
