Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My son is seven years old. He had a fever three days back. We started to give him the antibiotic Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate potassium). Yesterday he ate fish and started to have hives.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I have seen the pictures that you have sent (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).
He is having acute urticaria, the common cause is allergy to food, medicine, or even infection. How is his cough now? He has no more fever and a good appetite so this might just be a viral infection.
I suggest you buy him over-the-counter antiallergy medications like Levocetirizine syrup and give him 5 ml after dinner. For his cough, add Montelukast 5 mg one tablet after dinner. Give these medicines for one week. If his cough and allergy persist and worsen or if his fever recurs, you have to bring him to a doctor in your area.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
