Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 24 years old, and I have a habit of masturbating. Whenever I try to quit it, I always have a thought that next time my penis will not be erect, and I end up masturbating and getting an erection every time. After that, I feel very sad that I should not have done that.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your problem and situation.

First, you need to understand that masturbation is not wrong. But if you watch porn or erotic material, then it is wrong. You cannot stop masturbation at all because it is age-related changes or sexual desire due to hormones. You cannot stop it. Once you get married, then it will gradually decrease. Masturbation is problematic when you have a compulsion for it, which means you cannot control and do masturbation at unusual places and times, like at a job or social function, etc. If you are not able to do any work due to continuous thinking about masturbation or sex, then it is problematic. Otherwise, it is fine if you masturbate daily.

I hope that you get your answer.
