Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have fungal acne or textured skin, dark circles, eyebags, and hyperpigmentation around the mouth. I have dry and sensitive skin. Please suggest a skincare routine for me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From your brief history, I do understand that you are having pigmentary changes on your face with dark circles and few areas of sensitive skin. Although, I did not understand what you meant by fungal acne. A good skincare routine includes, thorough washing of the face with facewash (in your case anti-acne face washes) at least twice daily, morning and night, and definitely after removing makeup products off the face. Face wash should always be followed by a good moisturizer. If your skin is oily, then a gel-based moisturizer would be suitable for you, this is to seal the moisture on your face. Before getting out in the sun, it is mandatory to wear a sunscreen (that too gel-based) of SPF (sun protection factor) not less than 25. This should be applied twice, first in the morning and the next at noon. Sunscreen should be applied at least two hours before getting out in the sun as it needs time to get activated on this skin. Night before retiring to sleep, apply moisturizer again after face wash. Double cleansing, toners, and serums are all luxury in skincare. But this skeleton of routine is enough to maintain good skin. If you are open, wide pores and toners will be of use and should be used after facewash, before the moisturizer. For the eye bags and the dark circles, it is very important to get a minimum of eight hours of sleep. Retinoid under eye creams applied before sleeping also helps. Drinking a minimum of eight glasses of water having at least one fruit. Drinking green tea, healthy weight gain, exercise routine are the main points. Even after following these measures, there can be skin pigmentary problems that are stubborn and will not go away. There are various cosmetic procedures that would help. The treatments are laser treatments, chemical peeling, dermabrasion, glutathione therapy, PRP (platelet-rich plasma). If you follow up with a photograph of your face or arrange for a video conference, I will be able to guide you better through this.
