Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old unmarried male suffering from hypothyroidism. I have been on tablet Thyronorm 50 mcg. A few days ago, I checked my TSH level, which was 8.57 mIU/mL. I have had a low sex drive and a weak erection for the past six months. Is this associated with my hypothyroidism?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. Your dose of tablet Thyronorm is insufficient, so your sex drive is low. However, thyroid hormones are essential in sexual desire and erection. I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Take tablet Thyronorm (Levothyroxine) 100 mcg once daily on an empty stomach, then perform TSH (stimulating thyroid hormone) test after four weeks (TSH should be below 5).
  2. Also, perform a complete lipid profile test.

Also, do you have normal morning erections?

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
