Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the first day of my period. There was no penetration, but the penis was rubbed against the vagina, and I was scared about pregnancy from precum. So I took an I-pill within 12 hours on the second day of my period. Today is the fourth day, and I am still bleeding. My regular cycles are 24 to 26 days. This is the first time I took I-pill and just once. Is there anything to worry about? When can I expect withdrawal bleeding? When will I get my next period? Should I get a pregnancy test done?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

Absolutely there was no need of taking an I-pill (Levonorgestrel) as it happened during your periods. Now your bleeding may be due to I-pill. Do not wait for withdrawal bleed as you took a tablet during your periods. I suggest you try to avoid sex during periods and take I-pill only in case of emergency.

Feel free to ask your doubt with more details.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much. I feel relieved from the stress. Will my next period be delayed? Today is the fourth day, and I bled quite an amount. And is there anything to worry about if there is no withdrawal bleeding? Are there any chances of a delayed period next time? Then by maximum, how many days? What can I do to get regular normal periods next time? Is there anything to worry about?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There is nothing to worry about. There may not be much delay in the next period. This period may be prolonged. Do not worry about pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. Today is the fifth day of my period, and today also I had a little bit of bleeding. I usually have a period for three days, and I feel a little tired and sleepy. Are these the side effects of the I-pill? How long will the effect last? What can I do to get my normal periods next time?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

As I mentioned earlier all these symptoms are due to I-pill. You cannot do anything now to induce periods. It is related to your hormonal interactions. There can be a delay next time. Need not be always. Your stress itself can delay your periods, so be relaxed. No chance of pregnancy. The action of the I-pill depends on the day of your period. Variations can happen in each individual, and it may not take one week.

Follow back in case of queries.

Regards.
