Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 26-year-old girl who suffered from idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, three months ago. I was under treatment for the next three months with Corticosteroids and Imuran (Azathioprine). After three months doctor did not give me any treatment as my platelet count was normal. Now I asked him whether I can get pregnant. But he did not recommend it. But I wanted to become a mother and I want to know when can I get pregnant. Please help.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I went through your query and understood your concern.

The cause for your reduced platelet count was not clear. If no cause is found then it could be idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). A bone marrow aspiration study can be done to confirm it. This disease shows a response to a steroid. You can wait for five to six months to check whether any relapse occurs or not. You can consult a nearby specialist for your physical examination.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
