Can front teeth be repositioned without an extra procedure?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can I get my front teeth removed and then put them back in straight without dentures?

Kindly guide.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A tooth is fixed in the bone socket by a connective tissue called the periodontal ligament. Once we pull a tooth out of its socket, it means that we have completely damaged that tissue. It cannot be regenerated after that. Secondly, our teeth are supplied by nerves and blood supply through a pore called the apical foramen that is present at the apex of our teeth. When we pull out our tooth, all the nerves and blood supply to the tooth are cut off. Placing the tooth back again will not restore all that. So, you can do nothing like that. If your teeth are not straight, then go for an orthodontic treatment. That will make them straight. A wire is attached to your teeth, and bone remodeling goes on. With time, it changes the orientation of your teeth and makes them appear straight. If you want to avoid the braces, you can go for invisible teeth aligners. So, I suggest you approach an orthodontist.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reach out in case of further queries.

Thank you.
