Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from a severe stomach infection for the past few days. I had to pass watery stools four to five times a day. I have taken antibiotics for the infection, but my stomach is still painful. I also developed chills and a fever. I had got my laboratory tests done. I am also feeling very fatigued. What is the treatment for this?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

It seems you have infective diarrhea, which causes diarrhea and fever. Many causes, like E. Coli (escherichia coli), salmonella species, etc., can cause the infection. The generalized fatigue could be due to electrolyte imbalance due to fluid loss. I have checked your laboratory reports (the attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity), and all values are normal. So, I suggest you the instructions mentioned below,

1. Take plenty of fluids.

2. Take a tablet of Ciprofloxacin (antibiotic) 500 milligrams twice daily for five days.

3. Monitor your blood pressure regularly.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
