Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 1.4 year old baby has a pimple like spot on his forehead. Kindly provide me the remedies for the same.

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read through your query in detail.

Please find my observations below:

1. Pimples in a baby are a common occurrence. Simple remedies might help to prevent recurrence.

2. Please wash the area including the face with mild shampoo or soap especially made for sensitive baby skin at least once daily.

3. Make sure the skin is always dry over face and forehead.

4. Do not use oils and lotions over the area near pimple.

5. Please do not try to pinch or squeeze the pimple. It will get better in a week or ten days.

6. If the pimple persists even after ten days or getting worse, then please take the baby to a doctor for clinical confirmation.

Please attach pictures of the affected area for better diagnosis and treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Kindly look at the picture that I have attached. It was taken 3 to 4 months back.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I had checked out the photos that you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

My observations are:

1. It looks like your baby had an insect bite 3 to 4 months back and it developed in to a hypersensitivity reaction, which is a type of allergy.

2. It is suggested that you can apply Flutibact ointment (contains Fluticasone propionate and Mupirocin) on the pimple like area twice a day for 2 weeks.

3. It is safe to use for infants on the skin. But do not allow it to enter into eyes.

4. It will most likely heal within few days. This is not a serious condition.

5. If it persists even after applying ointment for 2 weeks then clinical examination by a dermatologist is required.

6. Please protect your child from insect bites.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
