Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am not able to control my feelings and getting so much of anger. My heartbeat is getting increased. I do not know what I a doing at that time. I am just scolding my friends, family, etc. But, after some time, I feel regret on thinking about that and will get into depression. Sometimes, there is no proper sleep. I am so much worried about my short temper.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The first step is to prevent yourself from acting out during anger episodes. While getting angry, either do reverse counting from 20 to 0 or deep breathing. After calming down give logical suggestions to yourself against losing temper in that particular situation. Log down the events resulting in stress and weekly review them. Then, think some alternative response from your side to resolve it. Practice relaxation exercises like yoga (pranayama). Follow steps of sleep hygiene such as avoiding caffeinated drinks. Remember that every problem has a solution. You just need to try solving it.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is there any medication to follow? Did I have any bipolar defect? I am worrying that I will lose my believed ones because of my anger. Please help.

Answered by Dr. Aditya Gupta

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. You are having only temper problems, and it does not paramount to bipolar disorder. Medications are there, but the first step is always non-pharmacological methods. Also, for anger management, non-pharmacological methods are a must. Express yourself assertively, but without confrontation to your dear ones and they will surely understand and help you getting out of this. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
