Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife underwent intrauterine insemination (IUI) followed by two Decapeptyl 0.1 mg (Triptorelin) injections four days later. She checked the pregnancy after ten and fifteen days via the pregnancy test kit, and both times it came positive. So is the result correct or false positive due to Decapeptyl 0.1 mg (Triptorelin) Injections?

Please guide.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I think you have done a urine pregnancy test. However, as you have tried intrauterine insemination (IUI), having an exact and clear pregnancy status is better. Better to have a serum beta-hCG (blood pregnancy test). You can repeat the beta-hCG test after 48 hours for proper pregnancy monitoring. If the second beta-hCG test level shows a 60 percent increase over the first, then it is a healthy growing pregnancy. However, if the second beta-hCG test level shows an increase of less than 60 percent, it could be an alarming pregnancy outside the uterus. But if the beta-hCG level after 48 hours is less than the first one, it is a miscarriage. In case of abnormal symptoms like bleeding, pain, or dizziness, consult the specialist immediately. Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. I advise taking Acide folique 0.4 mg (Folic acid) daily. If you have been treated for any disease, have a check for thyroid abnormalities (which can cause miscarriage and neurodevelopmental problems in a child).

Thank you.
