Can misaligned teeth be corrected by invisible aligners?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had braces when I was 20 years old. Now it has been 4 years since removing my braces. I did not wear retainers for six months. I used it only for a month. During my treatment, my dentist used an elastic band on one side of my upper tooth for two months. This resulted in a misaligned tooth where one side is protruding from the other. What can I do now? I started wearing retainers to reduce further protruding. Can this be corrected by wearing braces again especially invisible aligners?

Answered by Dr. Beryl F

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Relapse can be corrected by wearing braces again. Invisible aligners are ideal for minor corrections. Since your previous retainers fit you now, then your relapse can be minor and it can be corrected by wearing invisible aligners. Kindly consult your orthodontist and do a clinical examination. Follow your treatment by using retainers.
