Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This is regarding my wife. She gets fever in the evening between 99 and 99.8 F, almost three to four times a week. That means, half of the time. We got her blood test done and some numbers are not in range. We would like to know if these two test results indicate something or are a point of concern, or if any further test is needed.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern. I have seen your reports and everything is fine except for iron deficiency. Other parameters like HDL (high-density lipoprotein), globulin, and hemoglobin A1C are slightly changed, but these are not significant enough to cause anything. So you do not need to worry about these parameters at all. The only concern is iron deficiency, so we can start treatment for that. Iron deficiency can lead to symptoms like weakness and fatigue. I would also suggest you to do one more test, which is CBC (complete blood count). It will help us to know the cause of such low-grade fever, which usually occurs due to infection. So please do the CBC test and send me the reports. I will check and let you know. For now, I would suggest you to take tablet Paracetamol 650 mg once after a meal, whenever you have a fever. Take it for five days. Also, take iron supplements one tablet once before sleeping (night time) for 15 days. This is to treat iron deficiency. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

Can you please tell me how long she has been getting this fever? Does she have other symptoms like weakness and joint pains?

Thank you.

The Probable causes

Infection.

Investigations to be done

Complete blood count test.

Differential diagnosis

Iron deficiency.

Probable diagnosis

Fever.

Preventive measures

Consume plenty of fluids like water and juices, such as papaya, pomegranate, and orange juices.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As I can see, these are only the biochem blood reports with HDL, globulin, and other parameters. Do you have the CBC reports? If so, can you please tell me the values of hemoglobin (Hb), red blood corpuscle (RBC), total leukocyte count (TLC), and platelet counts? I did not receive the CBC reports, so you can just text me and I will check and prescribe you antibiotics if needed.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen your reports and your CBC report is fine too. There is nothing to worry about. These slight changes in MCV (mean corpuscular volume), MCH (mean corpuscular hemoglobin), and RDW (red cell distribution width) are due to some allergies, so do not worry. They will be fine as well. Her hemoglobin, RBC, and platelets are absolutely fine. So, just continue the treatment as I prescribed above. If anything else, please let me know.

Thank you.
