Is taking acid reflux and iron tablets on the same day safe?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female weighing about 110 lbs. I was taking acid reflux medicine (Omeprazole), which is the medicine my doctor asked me to take two years ago because I had acid reflux which later turned into GERD and then LPR. I just started experiencing anemia three to four months ago, probably longer.

I just started feeling sick because of it, and I never took Iron cause I never understood nor knew about anemia. I also never knew I was anemic until last month. Still, I recently got Iron medicine for it and never took it, only because I do not know if it is safe or not. I did not get diagnosed yet. Still, I am experiencing most symptoms. The doctor told me to ask permission from a doctor before taking another medication, so I am just wondering if I can take Iron and Omeprazole on the same day.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to iCliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

Do not worry. Do not depend on medication only. I suggest you regularly take dates, beetroot, jaggery, and green leafy vegetables. Include salads and more fruits. Do some relaxation exercises regularly and go for walks regularly for better digestion.

I suggest the following medications:

1. Tablet Raciper 40 (Esomeprazole), once daily on an empty stomach.

2. Tablet Fersoft Z (Cyanocobalamin, Folic acid, and Zinc sulfate monohydrate) once daily after food in the evening.

3. Tablet Ostocalcium plus (Cholecalciferol and tribasic calcium phosphate) one twice a day after lunch and at night. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.

Maintain a gap of three hours between Ostocalcium and Fersoft Z. I suggest you take all these tablets for 12 weeks. Follow-up after seven days.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.
