Patient's Query
Hello doctor.
I got my normal period before three months, which was normal the following month. Last month I got my period twice. This month, I was spotting light brown for almost ten days in a row, and I have not got my period till now; I kept getting sharp pain like period cramps for the past couple of days, but not bleeding at all. I take Biotin for hair, skin, and nails. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
There is a hormonal disturbance that is causing you irregular periods. Have you recently quitted or started any hormonal tablets? Do you have an illness or thyroid abnormalities? I suggest you have tablet Norethisterone 10 mg twice daily from day five to day 24 and then again in the next cycle same days. This will regulate your cycles and prevent unscheduled bleeding. Take a blood test on day two of periods (serum testosterone, serum progesterone, serum prolactin, serum insulin, follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, thyroid function test). Have a transvaginal scan as well. Check on abnormal hair growth and sudden weight gain, as these symptoms and irregular periods are symptoms of a polycystic ovary. Have a healthy diet, do daily exercise and yoga, and try to have a balanced body mass index. Have recreational activities and quit recreational drugs, as these can give you more disadvantages than advantages. Collect all your test reports and discuss them with your specialists. I hope I have cleared your doubts.
Thank you.
