Can I take Ayurvedic treatment instead of stent for a 70 percent block?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. A day back, I had an angiography due to diabetes and high blood pressure. One day before, l had angiography due to my two NYSE (healthcare index) having a block up to 70 percent. What should I do to cure it? My age is 37, and the doctor recommended placing stent, but I want to take ayurvedic treatment. Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The appropriate management of your ischemic heart disease includes:

1. Strict control of blood sugar level (HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) below 7 percent).

2. Strict control of blood pressure (below 130/80 mm/Hg).

3. Regular medications for the heart.

Indications for stent for ischemic heart patients :

1. Severe, frequent chest pain not controlled with medications.

2. Tight focal lesions in angiography.

3. In acute blocking of the coronary vessel (myocardial infarction).

*Otherwise, stent is optional based on your preference.

To be able to provide further advice, please send me a photocopy of the angiography report and your last ECG (electrocardiogram).

Have you sustained any myocardial infarctions recently?

How frequent is your chest pain? Your feedback will be appreciated.

Kind regards.
