Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from severe itching in my penis, especially in the circumcised area. It started to happen a month ago. I also feel like my penis is getting thinner day by day. I am unmarried. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I request you share a picture of the affected area.

If there was unprotected sex, one needs to think of sexually transmitted infection. I suggest you do the following tests.

1. TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination) test.

2. HPV PCR (human papillomavirus polymerase chain reaction) test.

3. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two IgG.

4. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG test.

5. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) screening test.

6. Urine complete analysis.

If these tests are negative, it can be a simple bacterial infection. I suggest you use an antibacterial ointment for local application and take a tablet of Doxycycline (tetracycline antibiotic) twice daily for five days.

If there is itching, you need to think of a fungal infection. Apply an antifungal ointment for local application and take a tablet of Cetirizine (antiallergic) for itching.

Make sure you wash your genitalia twice daily and use normal water. Do not use a heavy pH soap.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.
