Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an itchy scalp, visible amount of hair loss from top of the head, and a lot of dandruff. My existing condition is rheumatoid arthritis, and thyroid. I am consuming Sazo DS, Nucoxia, and Thyronorm. I visited a dermatologist and attaching the prescription which he gives me. I do not prefer to use Minoxidil as I have heard not such good reviews about it. Please assist.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do not worry. I will help you with your concerns. I read your history and went through your photos and prescription (attachment removed to protect patient identity). From your photo, it suggests that you have androgenetic alopecia (AGA) that too higher grade. Now, as you mentioned, you have rheumatoid arthritis and thyroid, these conditions are contributing to your hair fall. Minoxidil is really a good medicine for AGA so please do not worry about reviews. I am a trichologist and I have advised Minoxidil to many of my patients with good results. Now Minoxidil can be given in a lotion form or tablet form. If you feel Minoxidil application is tedious we can start oral Minoxidil for you. Also, topical Minoxidil causes dandruff. So your scalp itching could be due Minoxidil application or due to P.sicca. Also, I need to start you on good nutritional supplements for hair and one lotion to stop hair fall.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
