Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had done IUI for pregnancy two days back and now I have itching in the private part. Earlier when I went for a checkup doctor advised me to take a tablet of Simcobal SG. Can I continue with that?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Simcobal SG (L-selenium, vitamin B12, alpha lipoic acid, vitamin B9, and folic acid) is a routine multivitamin capsule and they can be continued. The possible reasons for itching are as follows:

1. Obesity - Expected weight is 55.11 to 66.14 pounds. So with obesity, there is more sweating in the body and private areas will be moist, causing fungal infections.

2. The medications after IUI (intrauterine insemination) will increase the discharge and sweat, making the area prone to infection.

3. I am sure you are taking too much rest. This will cause the skin of private areas to stay in touch with each other and sweat stays on for a long time, so there is a chance of infection.

I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below:

1. Keep the areas dry and clean frequently with plain cool water. Do not use disinfectants as they will burn the skin and make it more prone to infection.

2. Avoid synthetic or nylon undergarments. Use cotton instead. At night avoid using any undergarments.

3. Use only gentle washes or baby soaps.

4. Apply antifungal creams locally after bath and at night before sleep for five days.

Hope I have clarified your queries. Do write back in case of any more queries.
