What could cause leg joint pain and toe finger pain in viral fever?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a low fever and my toe fingers are paining so much. Also, the leg joints are paining too. I cannot walk freely, as soon as I stepped on the ground I felt the pain and could not walk or climb steps. Please help me, doctor.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

All the symptoms you have mentioned suggest the possibility of viral fever. We have to rule out conditions like dengue or chikungunya which also presents like this.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the following investigations and medicines with their consent:

1. A complete blood count and urine routine. Have a check in your platelets.

2. You can take a tablet of Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and a tablet of Ibuprofen (Advil) for fever and pain respectively.

3. A short course of antibiotics can be used empirically.

4. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

You do not have to worry about it. Most cases resolve within a few days, complications are very little.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
