Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19 year old female. I have been having a mucus infection since two years. Early last year, after a sputum culture test, it was found out that I suffer from a Klebsiella infection. I have been receiving Ceftriaxone injections thrice a month for the last six months and in each case, the infection subsides but comes back after two weeks. I am now taking Ciprofloxacin for a week, but still, the infection is present. I do not know what to do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • Klebsiella is a bacteria that affects people with low immunity and other diseases that reduce the body's immune system. It spreads mostly through contacts and not through the air.
  • If you are repeatedly getting infected, either the bacteria is resistant or there might be someone nearby who is infected and spreading it to you. Now, I recommend you complete the Ciprofloxacin course and wait for the infection to subside.
  • Your doctor might order you some tests to see the susceptibility with antibiotics.

Take care. Have a nice day.
