Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I fell on my knees one week back, for which I got an X-ray and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan done, and the report said that my PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) is stretched. However, my foot is swollen and are bluish on the sides. Kindly help me.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
There is no need to worry about the foot as it can be due to a soft tissue injury, and you can continue with the medications and apply the ice pack for the same. However, I would suggest wearing knee braces full time and trying to walk if possible. Once the swelling is gone completely, the doctor will check for abnormality; if there is cause for concern, then we need to treat accordingly, and if not, the swelling will subside within three to four days. Also, kindly revert with the MRI scanning report.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor.
I have attached the reports. I am just worried about the swelling on the foot and leg as it was a knee injury. How long does it take for the swelling and the discoloration to resolve? Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your report (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). There is nothing to worry about the foot; it should resolve within three weeks. However, the knee is to be assessed after three to four weeks.
Thank you.
