Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My right knee was injured while playing basketball a year ago. The knee was dislocated to the side but realigned automatically. It was swollen for over a week. A year later, I can walk, bend my knee, and perform jumps and squats without pain when the knee is straight. However, when I fully bend my knee, I experience pain on the back side of the right knee. Additionally, sudden twists during physical activities cause pain. I have been doing light exercises, but there has been no improvement. Despite the persistent pain, I prefer to avoid surgery if possible.
Please advise me on what steps I should take.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries, patellar tendonitis (pain at the end of flexion), and meniscal tears are common among basketball players. Rest for a few days and use pain relievers such as Ibuprofen 200 mg twice daily for five days. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your orthopedic specialist. They will examine and treat you accordingly.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
