Can a person wearing mask contract COVID-19 if others do not wear mask?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

If I go to sleep late, can I have heart problems? I hope not. I wake up around 6 am, or 8 am. I go to sleep from 2:30 am to 3:30 am. It has been such a bad habit since July of last year. Also, can I get the corona virus if I have the mask and others do not and are four to six feet away from me? I am fully Pfizer vaccinated and have had the Pfizer booster shot.

Please answer my questions.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. However, according to your statement, you want to know the link between sleeping late and a heart attack.

According to the studies, sleeping late can enhance heart attack. Again, improper sleep or short-duration sleep also can increase the risk of developing a heart attack. People who sleep for less than six hours at night have been linked to a higher risk of having a heart attack or stroke and have a 20 % higher risk of having a heart attack. It is recommended by WHO (World Health Organization) that six feet distance from other people helps to protect a person from being infected by the COVID-19 virus. In such cases, wearing a mask will enhance further protection from COVID-19 infection.

Take care.

I hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
