Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have excruciating pain in the left side of my forehead. It happens in the morning after waking up, and the pain troubles me for two hours. This pain troubles me for two hours. It happens daily and after having these painful hours, everything goes normal during the rest of the day. I have a cough and sneeze along with it.
I have been suffering from a chronic cough and sneezing for almost two months along with a sore throat. The cough sticks to the throat and it causes itching in my nose too. I have mild pain in the forehead and I press the originating region with the fingers. Sometimes, I have greenish thick mucus coming out. I have difficulty in breathing and sleeping at night. Kindly suggest some remedies and medicines as per the requirement.
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You can have LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) with rhinitis. You need further evaluation. You need to do a CT (computerized tomography) scan of the nose and sinus with nasal and laryngeal endoscopy. With the results, it is fine to find the cause, whether there is any polyp or sinus pathology. You seem to have allergic tendencies. For good relief and to get a solution, you need to do allergy testing to diagnose the allergic agents and proper measures can be taken. For reflux, you need a proton pump inhibitor.
Kindly elaborate on the symptoms and say whether you have done any blood tests or radiological investigations for this problem. If you want to try some medications before doing these tests, then I suggest you take Levocetirizine with Montelukast in the night for seven days along with Paracetamol appropriate to your weight every time when you have a severe headache. Take an Ambroxol tablet once daily for the mucus. You can use nasal spray (Fluticasone Propionate with Azelastine) two puffs for each nostril twice daily for seven days. Follow the above and revert to me in seven days and then we shall re-evaluate. Accordingly, you can decide about the investigations and I strongly believe that for a complete resolution, these tests are necessary.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
