Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffer from significant one-side leg discomfort in the left leg, from the knee to the foot. Despite taking painkillers, they were ineffective. I completed a uric acid test and am submitting it. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Since when are you feeling this pain? Your uric acid levels are normal. Are you able to walk? If yes, for how many minutes till you feel the pain?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have been in discomfort for two months. The pain is severe when I first wake up in the morning. Then after that, even though it gradually decreases, it still lasts the entire day. After seeing the doctor, I took some medication. But the discomfort from last month returned. Despite a minor reduction in pain, it still lasts for two months. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your uric acid levels were high. Your doctor started the treatment, and it indeed worked. But your pain is not because of uric acid. High uric acid pain is usually in the foot and toes. Not in the thigh and knees. Do you have back pain as well? Does bending down to pick any object or bow downwards or forward pain? What exactly happened that led to the start of this pain? Did you lift any weight? Did heavy-duty work or exercises?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

My back does not hurt at all. Neither exercised nor lifted any weights. My right side leg calf muscles and both side soles hurt as I walk, along with the right side knee. My knees also hurt when I try to sit or climb stairs. I remember that the discomfort began suddenly. One morning, the pain started in my soles and eventually moved to my calf and knee. Even now, my knees, calves, and toes hurt the worst when I get up in the morning. Afterward, it slows down but keeps going the entire day. It raises while standing or sitting. I cannot think of anything that may have happened to create the discomfort. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Please send an image of both knees and legs together (standing) from the front and both sides. Try to attach a video of walking ten steps coming towards the camera, and returning.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Thank you for the images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). There is swelling in the calf region, especially on the right side. Also, the right side knee joint looks swollen compared to the left. We need to start a combination treatment, including medicines for the pain and swelling and some restriction of activities with the addition of some exercises, which will help you. The kind of pain you suffer is primarily because of two main reasons: knee and lower spine problems. You are more likely to have the problem related to your knee and lesser cause in your spine as you do not have any back pain. Swelling around the knee and pain in the calves points towards the knee problem in addition to your increased pain on sitting, getting up, and climbing stairs. Please get an X-ray of both knees and anteroposterior and lateral views (standing) so that we can look into the bones to know the current status of your knee joint. I am attaching a copy of the prescription with essential medications for two days. Please get an X-ray and revert me so I can plan the best treatment for you. This prescription is just to get the X-ray done and relief for two days till you get the X-ray.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Due to some personal problems, we failed to get the X-ray reports. Can I submit the reports later?

Thank you.
