Hi doctor,
I was diagnosed with balanitis. I had itching and the tip of my penis was reddish, which was not going despite trying so many home remedies. He had prescribed an antifungal capsule which is to be consumed twice a week (one capsule each time) and one week is already over. Also given an antifungal ointment to apply, which I applied. The itching and reddishness have been cured. My problem now is, my penis outer skin is too dry and the moisture has completely gone from the whole outer skin of my penis. It becomes so dry that when I go for washing it, white rashes are coming all over it, but there is no itching or any other discomfort. I tried applying antifungal cream there also, also tried applying coconut oil. Still, it is not going. It has occurred twice with a gap of two to three months. I had my blood sugar and urine culture test done, which came back normal. I am too much worried. Please help.

This seems to be Recurrent balanitis (recurrent inflammation of the glans penis). It is usually common among diabetics. But since sugar levels are normal as you say, this might be due to persistent infection or reinfection. Now regarding dryness, this may be an early sign of lichen sclerosis (a condition that causes white patches in the genital areas) or Balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO). This can progress to Phimosis (a condition where the foreskin of the penis cannot be pulled back) and cause stricture urethra. Check whether you are able to retract the foreskin fully. If not, revisit your urologist for circumcision or further management.
