This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Kindly take a look at the medical reports of the patient. He suffers from a liver problem, which suddenly started last week. Could you please diagnose the case and give your recommendations? Can the patient be treated with medication or should he go for surgery? Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the attached reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

  • I suggest getting an amoebic serology and hydatid serology. Also get a CEMRI (contrast-enhanced MRI) and MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatogram) of the abdomen, and CA 19-9 (cancer antigen) level.
  • I suggest starting Metrogyl (Metronidazole) 800 mg, three times daily and Cefuroxime. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines after their consent. If hydatid serology is negative, then it will need aspiration.
