Are loose motions tablets safe for elderly?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 50-year-old lady. I am having loose motions and stomach cramps for the last two days. Can you suggest a tablet?

Please answer.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest the following:

  1. An antibiotic like Metrogyl (Metronidazole) 400 mg thrice a day.
  2. Take an antacid tablet Pan 40 (antacid) once a day.
  3. Multivitamin like capsule Becosules once a day.
  4. Probiotic like Sporolac sachet thrice a day.
  5. Plenty of fluids and ORS (oral rehydration solution).

Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and start taking the medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
