Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father is 76 years old. Around 15 days back, he had an endoscopy and the doctors put stents. For two days, he has had some eating disorder. He is just eating either a half apple or a half pomegranate. I have attached the medicine list prescribed by doctor after putting the stents. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I have reviewed the provided data (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Based on the medications prescribed, it seems that the patient underwent angiography and had stents placed in the heart, rather than an endoscopy. The decreased eating is unlikely to be related to the stents. However, since the patient is diabetic, it is important to monitor their blood sugar levels, as very high sugars can lead to decreased appetite. The prescribed medication, Aspirin, may cause gastritis, so it is recommended to give Tablet Nexpro 40 mg (Esomeprazole) once daily in the morning before food to prevent gastric irritation. Please continue all the prescribed medications and administer Syrup Bayer's tonic, 30 mL twice a day. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss the treatment plan with them, and obtain their consent before initiating any changes. If the problem persists, it is advisable to consult the nearest physician for a detailed examination and history. Considering the recent stent placement, an upper GI endoscopy may be risky at this time, and further assessment may be required.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The syrup which you recommended is of sugar, but my dad is a diabetic patient. Can my dad take that syrup? Also, my dad has digestion problem as well as gas trouble.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Syrup Bayers tonic is an appetizer, there is no sugar free in that category, so let him use that. It will not be a big problem.
  • Gas and digestion problem will be improved with Nexpro. Kindly review after five days of using these drugs. If not improved, then I will suggest some other drugs.
  • Try to avoid spicy foods.
