Why do I always have a low level of MCV, MCHC, MCH?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

There is a low level of MCV, MCHC, MCH. I am curious that why it is always low? There is a high level of RDW and RBC. There is a headache, numbness in arms and legs, itchiness, my knees hurt, and there is chest pain. Currently, I am taking antibiotics. What doctor should I need to see and what tests can I do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

In acute infection, the headache and joint pain can occur as a constitutional symptom. Paracetamol 500 mg can be taken until you consult a doctor for examination. Serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) estimation, SGPT (alanine aminotransferase), SGOT (aspartate transferase), calcium estimation, serum B12 estimation, random blood sugar, knee X-ray and EKG (electrocardiogram) like investigations can be done if there is no improvement after completing the antibiotic course. The investigations list can be shortened after the physical examination. I suggest you consult a physician for examination.
