How to get rid of symptomless bumps in the stomach and pubic area?

Hi doctor,

I am curious about small symptomless bumps that have grown throughout my lower stomach, my pubic area, and the middle to the lower portion of the shaft. The bumps are not severe on the stomach, but they are severe on the shaft area. It started a couple of months randomly and keeps spreading. I noticed when I had shaved and thought it might have been due to irritability. I feel no pain or irritation, but it is not something nice to see. I am concerned, but I have limited medical facilities nearby. Kindly suggest me a solution for this.

You seem to have molluscum contagiosum, a condition caused by a virus of the same name (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). In this condition, skin-colored to pinkish papules or bumps develop, usually around a few millimeters in size. These lesions have a slight central depression if you note it carefully and can be seen in any age group. But if present over genitals, as in your case, they are almost always sexually transmitted. As other conditions can be transmitted by sexual route, I suggest you to get a complete blood check-up to rule out other STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). I have mentioned below the tests that need to be done. Do HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) test, HBsAg (Hepatitis B surface antigen) test, HCV (Hepatitis C virus) antibodies test, VDRL (Venereal disease research laboratory) test, HSV (Herpes simplex virus) serology test. As far as the treatment of molluscum is concerned, it is a simple outpatient procedure. The central part of these bumps needs to be removed or destroyed by a dermatologist by chemical cautery, electrocautery, or simple needle extirpation. Topical retinoids (acne treatment medication) or other agents can also be given, but those are slow to act and take many weeks to work. So overall, the treatment is easy. But I suggest you to get yourself tested before that for STDs. Partner treatment is also recommended, otherwise it will keep on spreading. I hope this has helped you.
