Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 35-year-old male. I had a fever of 100.2 degrees Fahrenheit on the eighth of last month, which only lasted for a day. But the fever was followed by a few symptoms. After the fever, my lymph nodes at the back of my ear were swollen. I also had a sore throat and mouth ulcers. My body felt itchy, and I got a rash for two days. All these symptoms got cured after two weeks, except the lymph node swelling.
Is it because of a fried food allergy?
I have an allergy to fried foods, which makes me have ulcers and get a sore throat immediately. Recently, I had some fried chips.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Kindly answer the following
Lymph nodes can get enlarged as part of an acute infection. When the infection resolves, the lymph nodes should go back to their normal size, which is not noticeable or palpable. However, with recurrent infections, the nodes tend to remain enlarged in size but without pain.
They become painful and tender during an acute attack, but between attacks, they remain big but not painful. Lastly, if the nodes remain enlarged after a single attack, we may need to give you some antibiotics and follow up. Blood investigations may be necessary.
Investigations that I suggest you get done are:
If you can take a picture of your throat and send it, it will be great. Fried foods cannot cause all the symptoms that you have mentioned. We need to get more details and re-evaluate. For mouth ulcers, you are advised to take plenty of green leafy vegetables, some B12 vitamin supplements, and drink plenty of water. You are suggested to avoid coffee, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and spicy foods till you get better.
I hope this helps.
Please revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
