Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a stage 4 lymphoma cancer survivor. My eight rounds of chemotherapy treatment for stage 4 lymphoma were completed six months ago. My 2nd PET CT scan assessment with my treating oncologist was one month ago. PET CT scan showed no FDG intake and my treating oncologist said that I am in remission. For the past two days I have been feeling very mild pain in my tongue (I have marked the place in one of the pics). Please review all the pictures attached of my tongue and advise that everything is fine. I am not sure if I had bit my tongue. I do not have any fever. I do not have any swallowing difficulty or change in voice. I do not drink or smoke.

And importantly, please advise if I will be vulnerable to any other forms of cancer as I am a survivor of stage 4 lymphoma.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. I had a detailed view of the pictures (attachments hidden to protect the identity of the patient) you sent. This does not seem to look like anything that you need to be worried about. Post-chemotherapy there could be some minor micro ulcerations over the tongue which may not be visible to the naked eye and only creates minor symptoms of burning sensation or subtle pain over the area while having food. I would suggest you take B-complex supplements with coenzyme 10 mg once a day after food for two months and Benzydamine gargles five to six times a day. This should alleviate the symptoms in six to eight weeks. The last question you have asked should be consulted with a medical oncologist as he or she will be able to give a more appropriate answer with facts and figures.

I hope this answers your query.

Thank you.

Regards.
