Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am feeling emotionally disturbed. I am always overthinking, and negative thinking is killing me from inside. I am having suicidal thoughts. I cannot even concentrate on my studies. I do not understand what to do? How can I tell about this to my parents? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation. You may have major depressive disorder due to overthinking or stress. I suggest you do the following to deal with your depression-

    1. You should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes or go for a walk, this will uplift your mood.
    2. You should meditate for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let them be. It will make you relaxed, increase your concentration and help control your emotion.
    3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.
    4. You must drink enough water.
    5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
    6. You must talk about it to your parents. You can share it with your elder brother or sister or cousin.
    7. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills like language or musical instruments.
    8. You should sleep at least 7 to 8 hours daily.
    9. You must avoid tobacco or alcohol or any substance abuse.

Stop overthinking, and think positively. Everything will be fine. Suicide is not the solution to any problem but every problem has one good solution. Please, let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.
