Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have round and colored patches on my neck. They started on one side and are now spreading. Can you kindly suggest some medicines? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. Are the lesions itchy? What is your occupation? Do you have prolonged sun exposure? Is there burning on exposure to the sun? Have you used any steroid cream in the past? Do you have any autoimmune diseases? Kindly revert with the answers for better guidance. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the response. It is not itchy; there is no sun exposure. Also, I do not have any autoimmune disorders and have not used any steroid creams. However, I travel a lot. I have used tablet Zentel for two days, thinking they were worms. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It appears to be Malassezia furfur infection due to sweating. It is a superficial skin infection. Malassezia furfur is a normal inhabitant of skin flora. I suggest the below treatment plan. Apply Kevon stay on lotion (Ketoconazole) or Candid TV lotion (Clotrimazole and Selenium) 20 minutes before bath for 20 days. Use Ketoconazole soap for the bath for two months. Take Tablet Teczine M (Levocetirizine and Montelukast) once at night after food for seven days. Take Tablet Fluconazole 400 mg single dose. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and start the medicines with their consent. I also suggest the below steps. Avoid scratching and rubbing lesions. Avoid direct sunlight. Avoid activities that cause sweating. Wear loose, comfortable thin cotton clothes. Stay in a well-ventilated room or cool environment. Avoid humid weather conditions. Also, get a CBC (complete blood count), hemoglobin, C-reactive protein, and absolute eosinophil count done. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Will I be fine after the treatment?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you will be fine. I also suggest you to use a photostable sunscreen lotion daily at 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm for two months, and capsule Antoxid HC (multivitamin) once daily after breakfast for 30 days. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
