How can I overcome anxiety due to excessive masturbation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I started masturbation when I was 15 years old. During the corona period, I was staying at home, and I was free. During that time, I just read an article masturbation creates dysfunction and PE. After that, I feared so much and started monitoring daily whether my penis was fine or not. My penis and health were fine earlier. To monitor and erect my penis, I watched porn. I have been addicted to excessive masturbation for the last two years because I always wanted to know whether I was fine or going to face ED. Because of the monitoring and excessive masturbation, I lost my libido and always felt nervous and anxious. I do not have a strong morning erection like before, for example, :3 years ago when I was normal, If I stop masturbation for four to five days, I get a morning erection, but now it is not staying like before. I feel so worried and anxious. I feel I am shrunken, and the shape of my penis is reduced. I damaged my penis and my future. I go to sleep with lots of negative thoughts. How can I overcome my anxiety and heal myself that I created for excessive masturbation? Is there any way I can go back to three years ago when I was normal and had a strong urge for sex? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

I think it is anxiety and worries related to excessive masturbation and its potential impact on your sexual health. Firstly, I would like to reassure you that masturbation does not cause erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation; it is a normal and healthy part of sexual behavior. It is possible that your anxiety and excessive monitoring of your penis may be contributing to your loss of libido and weaker morning erections. It is essential to seek support and guidance from a healthcare professional who can evaluate your concerns and provide appropriate treatment options. Here are a few suggestions that may help you overcome your anxiety:

  • Seek Professional Help: I suggest talking to a therapist or a counselor about your anxiety and sexual health concerns. They can provide you with tools and strategies to cope with your anxiety and help you overcome negative thoughts related to your sexual health.
  • Engage in Healthy Lifestyle Habits: Practicing good sleep hygiene, maintaining a balanced diet, and regular exercise can also help to reduce anxiety and promote overall health.
  • Limit Pornography and Masturbation:Consider reducing your exposure to pornography and cutting back on excessive masturbation to give your body a chance to heal and recover.
  • Focus on intimacy rather than performance: Focus on the pleasure and intimacy of sexual experiences with a partner rather than worrying about performance or achieving specific outcomes.

Remember that healing is possible, and with the proper support and strategies, you can overcome your anxiety and regain your sexual confidence.

All the best.

Regards.
