What is the risk of prostate cancer from masturbation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been masturbating for almost one and a half years, and now I have studied that it can increase the chance of prostate cancer, and I am scared of it. It says that symptoms include dribbling urine, pain while ejaculating, blood in urine and numbness in the legs causes it. I have been getting a slight pain in my legs when I stopped masturbation for three days. I want to know if I should leave masturbation immediately or slowly, like masturbating once a week and slowly leaving it. Is there any chance of prostate cancer (I am 15 years old)?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand. Masturbation is normal, natural, and never unhealthy. But excess masturbation can kill your sexual stamina. Excess masturbation can also cause anxiety disorder, depression, and thereby erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation. There are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. Jogging and physical exercise are always good to keep you fit and stop worrying about sex and allied thinking. I suggest online sex counseling and therapy.

Take care.
