What could be the cause of erectile dysfunction during sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having trouble with my sex life recently. I am finding it very difficult to maintain an erection and reach completion during sexual intercourse, even though I am able to do so consistently during masturbation. I am worried that my masturbation and pornography habits are causing me to have these issues. I masturbate almost daily, often for long periods of time (typically to cure my boredom) with consistent use of pornography. I am concerned that I am training myself to only be able to ejaculate through masturbation. On top of this, my issue often makes me anxious about sexual intercourse which I feel can make it even more difficult to have sex. Ideally, I would love to hear if there are any suggestions that could help me overcome my issue.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sex is completely different from masturbation where two partners with their mutual agreement start it. Sex and pleasure are also important. You get pleasure with masturbation and I think you never get pleasure during sexual intercourse. It is not because of your masturbatory habit, so many people masturbate daily even twice, thrice or more. Erection is related to excitement and it shows your interest in a particular area. So as your interest will develop in the partner, you will maintain the erection. Besides indulging in pornography and masturbation, start giving time to your partner. Her needs are what you desire. So many things are important. These all body mind game, it is difficult to understand but we can solve this.
