Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male. I have a raised bump or mole on my scalp, which is around 5 mm wide, on which hairs are growing. It is skin-colored or close to the color of the skin. Consistency is soft, smooth, mushy, a little oily, and movable. I am unsure if it is growing or not, but it feels like it is growing very slowly every time I touch it, and sometimes I feel it is getting smaller. But it has been there for around four months since I noticed. It neither hurts nor itches. There are no other major physical symptoms like fatigue, vision changes, or breathing problems. There are no other symptoms like an itch, burn, pain while touching or pressing. I do not have any noticeable symptoms in particular. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. From the image attached (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), and the description, it seems it might be a intradermal melanocytic nevus. It is a benign and harmless condition. It looks benign but other benign appandageal and hair tumors can also present like this. To confirm, I would suggest you to take biopsy. In your case when the lesion is smaller in size, biopsy offers dual advantage of diagnosis as well as the treatment, as it will lead to complete excision. As such, medical treatments are not available for these kind of lesions and only treatment is surgical removal. There is nothing to worry as it looks benign but to confirm and for complete removal, kindly contact nearby dermatologist. Hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
