Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 31 year old female. I usually have regular periods, but this month I did not have a period. I got a negative pregnancy test. There was a little spotting. Could be it a sign of cervical cancer? I am really worried. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history in detail and understand your concerns.

As per your description, these symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance but it could be due to pregnancy also (though the chances are very very low). But as you missed your period it could be an ovulatory cycle (due to hormonal changes) or due to pregnancy (if precum contains sperm). You should go for a home urine pregnancy test after seven days of your missed period date or blood beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) testing to rule out pregnancy right now. If pregnancy is not there, it could be due to hormonal imbalance and you can wait and watch for your menses or can take progesterone for withdrawal bleeding. I suggest you get your thyroid profile and hemoglobin test also for any hormonal changes.

I hope you find this information helpful.

Thank you.
