I am 43. How can I manage a forehead rash and headache?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from headaches for the last 20 years. Initially, I used to take Saridon tablets to get relief from headaches, and it has given results for some time. After a few years, one of the doctors advised me to do pranayama (breathing exercise), and it has given good results. My frequency of headaches has come down drastically, once every three months or so. Whenever this headache occurs, some red rashes will appear on my forehead, especially in the center of my forehead, and will disappear after two or three days. I could not understand the reason for the rashes. When I touch the rash, I do feel some pain. Recently, I consulted a neurologist and he said that it is migraine headache and the tablet Dolo 650 has to be used whenever a headache starts. If a headache appears twice in a month, then I should use Sibelium 10 mg (Flunarizine). He also said that this headache will be there till the age of 55 years, and I am 43 now. My mother has had headaches for the last 40 years. Please clarify the reason for my rashes during a headache. Also, can I take Dolo 650 for a headache?

Kindly guide.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concerns. First of all, I would like to inform you that the rash over the forehead is a part of migraine headache and disappears within 72 hours. In other words, a typical migraine track never goes beyond 72 hours, and the same is applicable for rashes associated with it. Although the exact pathology is not known, it has been speculated that the rashes appear due to immune system dysregulation. Yes, Dolo 650 mg (Acetaminophen) is able to treat migraine. Prescription migraine pills can also be included. This indicates that the frequency of migraine is very low, around one or two times a month. If there is more frequency, then you may need regular treatment.

I hope this information helps you.

Thank you.
