Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

When I was a kid, three of my teeth fell off. One was a twin tooth where two small teeth stick together, and the other teeth as normal. Since three teeth were missing, three teeth are expected to grow. But only one has grown, yet my gums have no space at all. I am 16 years now, and I have two missing teeth. Is this case possible?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Kindly upload an image of the tooth you are talking about.

It is diagnostically relevant, and I will let you know the necessary actions and management to resolve the issue. It is possible, and I would explain how.

The human body is a mystery where unexpected things do happen. In your case, in place of three missing teeth, one already grew. You are expecting the other two, which will be clear to me once I see the image of the area. Upon tooth development, the tooth follicle of both the tooth joined, resulting in a twin tooth (gemination). So, you can see only a twin tooth in the end, and please do not expect a new tooth to erupt. The technical term is gemination.

I will be sure once I see the image and let you know the necessary management needed to resolve it and have a picture-perfect smile.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
