Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My mood is off all the time. I have no purpose in life. It feels like everything, and everyone irritates. I do not know about depression. I always used to be a fun-loving, happy girl. Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

First of all, screen yourself for clinical depression. Do a self-rating test of depression like Zung's self-rating depression scale, which you can easily find online, and if it is indicative of moderate to severe depression, consult a psychiatrist in person for detailed evaluation and treatment. Certain things that can be of help are:

  1. Meditation daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps.
  2. Exercise regularly and take a balanced diet rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids. Aerobic exercises for at least half an hour thrice a week have been found to be especially helpful.
  3. Share your feelings with family or close friends, as sharing greatly helps.

Remember, every problem has a solution. You need to try solving it; help is just a step away.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
