At 21, how can I change my attitude towards my partner?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male, and I have a partner who is 19 years old. We go along well. But my problem is that I overreact a lot to her actions. If she does not text me, my mood changes, and I will be angry. But I want to change myself. I want to change my attitude. I want to be more friendly. Please tell me, how can I change myself?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The first important thing in a relationship is that you do not force her for anything and accept her however she is. Do not try to change her. Give her personal space. If you overreact, then you may lose the love and respect for yourself. Spend some quality time with her and try to know her likes and dislikes. Take care of her. Do not make her cry, and do not get possessive over anything. Trust her. Let her know that you are waiting for her response.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reach out in case of further queries.

Thank you.
